Violence seriously affects the lives of working women around the world, with sexual harassment being its most frequent form.
Violence against women is a violation of women's human rights. It represents an obstacle to gender equality. Violence against women at work is a fundamental union issue that affects women's rights, safety, health and dignity.
All forms of violence against women are
unacceptable!
SITIMM commits to the following:
• Position ourselves publicly against all forms of violence and harassment against women and condemn attitudes and actions that perpetuate sexism and violence.
• Address the gender issue as a priority in our union and allocate necessary resources to generate activities aimed at preventing and combating the violation of women's rights.
• Foster a culture of respect for women in our union, raising awareness among our members, our staff and our representatives, offering training on the importance of eradicating violence and harassment in the workplace and in our union.
• Encourage our members to actively fight against violence and harassment towards women, especially in the workplace.
• Organize campaigns aimed at preventing and combating violence towards women.
• Demand that employers develop policies and procedures to prevent and combat all forms of violence against women in their workplaces, and establish safe mechanisms that women can resort to if they suffer harassment or assault at work.
• Include demands for the eradication of violence and harassment against women in our collective bargaining.
