
On February 13, the Ordinary Trade Union Council Assembly was held in the city of Irapuato, which was attended by more than 700 union representatives from 170 companies in the region.
Among others, the purpose of the Assembly is to report on the progress, achievements, results, commitments and challenges that our union organization SITIMM has had in recent months, where unity in union work has been a fundamental value for the growth of our organization, since, to date, we have surpassed the attention of more than 70 thousand workers affiliated with SITIMM.
The General Secretary of SITIMM, comrade Alejandro Rangel Segovia, was in charge of giving the welcome message to the union delegates from various sections.
During his participation, colleague Alejandro Rangel Segovia, General Secretary of SITIMM, reported that in seven work centers increases of between 15 and 20% were achieved, which benefited 4,291 employees, in addition to the union adding almost 70 thousand members.
In a year that the union itself anticipated as “challenging” due to economic pressures in the automotive industry, the Union of Metallurgical, Automotive, Similar and Related Industry Workers of the Mexican Republic achieved salary increases of up to 20% in seven companies during contractual reviews of 2026.
Between the end of October, November, December and so far in January and February, the union carried out 46 reviews, 30 comprehensive of salary and benefits, and 16 exclusively salary, with a direct impact on 28,151 workers.
In addition, it reported that increases of between 15 and 20% were achieved in seven work centers, which benefited 4,291 employees. In 24 companies the increases ranged between 10 and 15%, while in eight more they were between 8 and 10%. Only in seven contracts were the adjustments between 6 and less than 8%.
