On **March 8**, as part of International Women's Day, SITIMM — through CEFORMA A. C. — simultaneously held in the cities of **Silao, Celaya and Irapuato** the 5th Diploma "Toward the Development and Leadership of the Working Woman", with more than **200 women workers** in attendance from nearly **90 workplaces**.
The opening was led by **Lic. Alejandro Rangel Segovia**, Secretary-General, who attended from the Silao venue, where he highlighted the presence of every attendee and stressed that SITIMM has commemorated the efforts of women workers not only on March 8, but as a permanent stance of the Union in favor of family, social and labor equality and justice.
He noted that one of the main goals of the diplomas is to keep developing women leaders who grow and help empower all their fellow workers by sharing the knowledge and experiences they acquire during these events.
Next, **Ing. Carlos García Villaseñor**, mayor of Silao, inaugurated the Diploma and emphasized that SITIMM is an example of a union organization committed to gender equality. He recognized the work women carry out in social, work and family life as a cornerstone of society.
During the diploma, messages on International Women's Day were shown from **Anabel Pulido López**, director of the Instituto de la Mujer Guanajuatense, and **Inés González Nicolás**, Coordinator of the Union and Gender Dialogue at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
The talks were delivered by the **Instituto Estatal de Capacitación (IECA)** on the topics: _"The value of being a woman (dignity, identity, rights)"_, by Lic. María de los Ángeles Gómez López, Lic. Miguel Ángel Sánchez Medrano and José Pedro Cortés Xiqui; and _"Vivo Segura"_, by Diana Landín Campos, Luz María Campos and Hugo Alberto Palma Ramírez, the latter Coordinator of Social Welfare for the municipality of Irapuato.
Throughout the talks there was active participation from every attendee, who shared their views and experiences on the topics presented by the experts.
Colleagues **Fátima Negrete Dueñas**, Secretary of Youth Action in Silao; **María Guadalupe Ramírez Arias**, Secretary of Women's Action in Celaya; and **Lic. Fátima Caridad Oñate Padilla**, Director of Training at CEFORMA in Irapuato, delivered the closing remarks for the 1st module of the 5th Diploma of the Working Woman.
Thus, SITIMM continues its ongoing search for new alliances and mechanisms — including the Diploma "Toward the Development and Leadership of the Working Woman" — to provide support and assistance tools, given women's growing entry into the workforce, particularly in the automotive and auto-parts industry, and the difficulties they face in pursuing a work-life balance and equal, respectful treatment.
