
SITIMM STRENGTHENS UNION TIES THROUGH EXPERIENCE EXCHANGE WITH SIES OF EL SALVADOR
From August 7-13, 2026, a SITIMM delegation comprised of Bernardo Rangel Segovia, José Paulo Mota Lara, Juana Leslie Martínez Rodríguez, Fátima Negrete Dueñas, Alma Perla González Rojas, Ma. Del Refugio Araujo Rojas, José Guadalupe Aboytes Alarcón, Miguel García Pérez, José Octaviano Martínez Ortega and Francisco López Vázquez participated in a union exchange meeting with the Electrical Industry Union of El Salvador (SIES). The SIES delegation was comprised of Joselito Acosta Álvarez, General Secretary of the Electrical Industry Union of El Salvador (SIES), Rafael Antonio Herrera Cruz, José Roberto Cañas Cisneros, Walter Ernesto Pineda Valdez, Walter Napoleón Flores Lara, Francisco Rafael Guido Trujillo, Walter de Jesús Orellana Canjura and Luis Armando Amaya Martínez. During this visit, working meetings were held, encounters with workers and union representatives took place, as well as visits to companies and institutions in El Salvador. Among the topics addressed, collective bargaining, union training, social programs, youth affiliation, labor reforms and the challenges of unionism in the face of artificial intelligence and new technologies stood out. The agenda included meetings with SIES members from Empresa Eléctrica de Oriente (EEO), DEL SUR and CAESS, as well as meetings with the national structure of SIES, the Union Confederation of Workers of El Salvador (CSTS), the Ministry of Labor and representatives of the AES El Salvador Business Group. One of the main objectives was to share experiences and best union practices, learn about the structures and organizational forms of both institutions and strengthen the bonds of cooperation and international solidarity. This meeting reaffirms the commitment of SITIMM and SIES, as member organizations of IndustriALL Global Union, to continue building alliances that strengthen the defense of labor rights and the development of strategies for the benefit of workers.
